IGA_Net<tm> GENEALOGY NETWORK
NEW ZEALAND CONFERENCE RULES
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last Revised June 24, 1995
Echo Tag: IGA_NZ.GEN
Moderator: Chris Maddock (IGA_Net<tm>: 440:302/302)
(FidoNet: 3:640/302)
* This conference is for the discussion of genealogy and related
matters generally.
* The subjects discussed should be of a New Zealand nature but
otherwise may discuss any matter covered by the subject.
* The following rules are not negotiable.
1. No flames. If you want to put someone down, or to flame them
otherwise, (whether they be in the conference or not), take it to
Netmail.
2. This is not a forum for "my software/database format/whatever is
better than yours". Debates of this nature are not permitted - take it
to Netmail.
3. This conference is only permitted to be distributed by IGA_Net<tm>
nodelisted systems. It is not permitted to be distributed via any
other Network without the express permission of the Moderator, and,
with the express permission of the IGA_Net<tm> Administrator.
4. Only IGA_Net<tm> addresses in Origin lines are permitted.
5. Moderation will generally take place via Netmail. The lack of
obvious moderation does not indicate its absence.
6. Any discussion of the Moderation or otherwise will be via Netmail.
This specifically includes complaints or appeals to the Moderator.
7. The use of taglines is strongly dissuaded. In the event the
originator of a message finds he/she has an urgent need to utilize a
tagline, the tagline will only be a short line detailing research
surnames:
Researching: JONES, GREEN, and CALLAWAY
Cutesy taglines add nothing to the value of genealogical research
being conducted by the message originator.... in fact, they detract
greatly from the serious purpose of the message content.
Also, taglines add to the length of messages and therefore add to the
cost of transferring traffic via continental and intercontinental
telephone. Again, you are requested to empathize with those who are
paying the long-distance charges and leave taglines off your messages.
8. Considering that characters with the high-ASCII bit set (above 7F
hexadecimal (127 decimal)) and characters of value less than 20
hexadecimal (32 decimal) cause numerous problems with software now in
use, such characters are not allowed in messages in this echo.
